Our story

It all started with a slab roller

Galeart is a family business born out of crafting tools for potters. After the slab roller came bats, ribs, sieves, the pugmill, hump and slump moulds, and raku kilns.

Our workshop and showroom in Pujaudran welcomes you to see and try out our equipment, and we ship throughout France and across Europe.

Guide

Choosing the right pottery and ceramics equipment

Clays and ceramic bodies

We supply clays (earthenware, stoneware, and porcelain) sourced from Bisbal, Spain. We offer clays with varying amounts of grog, available in diverse shades: white, black, red, and terracotta. You will also find refractory bodies and low-fire stonewares.

Our clays are typically sold in 10 kg or 12.5 kg blocks, or in powder form for slip casting and mixing slips and engobes.

Glazes, engobes, and frits

Glazing is a crucial step of the process, which is why we provide a wide selection of glazes for all your work (sculptures, bowls, vases, mugs, and more). We offer low-fire glazes, high-fire glazes, and RAKU glazes. Our catalog includes glossy, matte, velvet, transparent, and opaque finishes. We aim to supply a versatile range of glazes to help you personalize every piece and make it truly unique. That is why you will find solid colors as well as reactive and special-effect glazes. You can also source base glazes and frits from Galeart (transparent, white, crystallization frits, boro-alkaline raku frits, etc.). These glazes come either in dry powder form or in ready-to-use 500 ml tubs.

We also produce a line of low-fire and high-fire slips and engobes, based on earthenware, stoneware, or porcelain bodies. Every month, we formulate new colors. These engobes apply smoothly onto raw, leather-hard clay as well as on bisque ware. They come ready to use in 500 ml tubs.

Finally, a line of overglaze paints and on-glaze colors is available for porcelain painting and decorative surface work.

Raw materials and auxiliaries

At Galeart, you will find a full range of raw materials and additives to formulate your own glazes: silica, feldspar, oxides, dioxides, carbonates, wollastonite, and more.

We also carry an extensive selection of high-temperature ceramic stains and pigments, allowing you to blend your own signature colors.

Lastly, we supply practical additives and suspending agents, such as medium for china painting and overglazes, as well as Pehatine, our all-in-one glaze conditioner.

Galeart: Pottery and Ceramics Equipment

First and foremost, we are potters and toolmakers. That is why we offer a comprehensive line of French-made tools, designed and built in our own workshops and alongside local craftspeople.

We also partner with trusted manufacturers to bring you durable, professional-grade tools and heavy equipment.

Small pottery tools

At Galeart, you will find all the essential pottery hand tools: sponges, pottery ribs, knives, modeling tools, burnishers, and more.

A hand-picked selection of specialized brushes for painting and glazing is also available.

Among our personal favorites are our batts. We have engineered a broad range of batts in all standard dimensions (with inserts or solid), from 25 cm to 35 cm, designed to fit securely onto any standard wheel head.

You will also find accessories engineered to streamline your throwing workflow: glaze removal pads, trimming pads, polishing discs, and more.

Heavy pottery equipment

Our flagship machine is the slab roller, available in two distinct sizes. Intuitive, robust, and built to integrate seamlessly into any studio space.

Our latest build, the pugmill, has just rolled out of the prototype shop. It is already earning strong recognition.

We supply potter's wheels, with traditional rope-driven wheels joining our lineup very soon.

Pottery kilns:
We partner with two kiln manufacturers: Nabertherm for top-loading kilns, and H&C for front-loading kilns—the latter being a premium Belgian manufacturer renowned for uncompromising build quality.

We are currently developing our own custom-built gas-fired pottery kiln.

Finally, we manufacture and supply our own line of gas raku kilns right here in our workshops.

Kiln furniture and refractory materials:
We work directly with French manufacturers to provide dependable kiln furniture. From kiln shelves and props to ceramic fiber, insulating firebricks, and refractory mortar.
