In this article, we will guide you through the steps of the Kohiki method, using a specific recipe. ???? Kohiki Recipe:

???? Equipment used:

Step 1 : Throw the piece of your choice on a Auflageplatte. To start, choose the type of piece you want to make and throw it carefully on a PVC Auflageplatte or MDF bat. Make sure you achieve a smooth, even surface, ready to receive the Kohiki slip.Step 2 : Prepare the Kohiki slip according to the indicated recipe. The Kohiki recipe we will use includes 35% kaolin, 30% fireclay, 25% nepheline syenite and 10% wollastonite. Mix these ingredients thoroughly until you obtain a smooth, creamy texture.Using a brush, dip it into the Kohiki slip and apply it with circular motions onto the exterior walls of your piece. Be sure to cover the entire surface evenly, taking care not to leave any bare spots.Step 3 (optional) : Create patterns using a dry brush If you wish to add an extra touch to your creation, you can use a dry brush, without slip, to create patterns. Circular motions from bottom to top are particularly effective for an aesthetic effect. However, you can also leave the surface plain if you prefer a more understated look.Step 4: Use a heat gun to lightly dry your piece Once you have applied the Kohiki slip and optionally created patterns, use a heat gun to lightly dry the piece. This will help set the slip and prepare the surface for the next step.

Then, using a rib, apply gentle outward pressure to open out the walls of the piece. This step will cause the slip to crackle gradually as the wheel turns. You can adjust the pressure depending on the crackled effect you wish to achieve.

Step 5 : Admire the final result, a captivating crackled effect. Once you have completed the previous step, you will see a stunning crackled effect appear on the surface of your ceramic piece. The crackles will form randomly, creating a unique and fascinating pattern. Take the time to admire the result and enjoy the beauty of this visual effect.
